Yes, A-TONE IPL is suitable for a wide range of skin types, including higher-risk skin tones like Fitzpatrick Type IV and V. However, a consultation is recommended to evaluate your skin and customize the treatment plan.
Most clients experience minimal discomfort. The contact cooling system and short pulse delivery help reduce heat and irritation, making it more comfortable than traditional IPL.
Depending on the area being treated, sessions typically range from 15 to 45 minutes. The large spot size allows for fast and efficient treatments.
Results vary by individual and skin condition. Most clients see noticeable improvement after 3–6 sessions spaced a few weeks apart.
A-TONE IPL treatments are non-invasive with minimal to no downtime. You can resume most daily activities immediately, though sunscreen and post-care guidance should be followed.
Pre and Post Operative Care
OurIPL PRE & POST CARE INSTRUCTIONS
For best results, please follow these instructions BEFORE your IPL treatment
Do not wear makeup to your treatment.
Avoid any irritants to your skin, such as any products containing Tretinoin, Retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide, Glycolic/Salicylic Acids, or Astringents for one week before your treatment.
Avoid taking antibiotics such as TETRACYCLINE or MINOCYCLINE for 1–2 weeks prior to your treatment as they make your skin photosensitive.
To avoid damage from the laser, you must be off ACCUTANE for at least 6 months prior to treatment.
Do not wax or use depilatory creams on treatment area for 1 week prior to your treatment to avoid irritation.
No sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
AFTER your IPL treatment
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds to treated areas after treatment (we recommend this indefinitely to maximize results). Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 is vital to maintain your improved skin.
Avoid any irritants to your skin, such as any products containing Tretinoin, Retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide, Glycolic/Salicylic Acids, Astringents or Vitamin C for one week after your treatment.
Do not wax, tweeze or use depilatory creams to the treated areas for at least 1 week after your treatment.
Treated lentigines usually darken after treatment and mild crusting begins to form within a few days. This crusting usually resolves in 1 to 3 weeks. It should be allowed to naturally flake off. If significant crusting occurs beyond the normal flaking of the treated lesions, an antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin may be recommended.
Localized redness may be presented and typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours. If you do not need makeup for the evening of the treatment, wait until the next morning.
INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL) TREATMENT: WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
Expect your skin to appear pink (resembling mild sunburn) for a few hours after treatment.
You will be given a cool compress to apply after treatment.
Make-up may be applied to cover redness as needed.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your skin may be temperature sensitive for several days after treatment.
Brown spots and freckles will appear darker while healing.
It will take 4–6 weeks to see the full result and 2–3 treatments may be required to achieve an optimum result.
The sessions are designed to provide no downtime, however, occasionally you may find that your cheeks and under-eye areas are slightly puffy after treatment. You may use cold compresses (5 minutes on and 10 minutes off) several times an hour to help ease both redness and swelling.
Sleeping with your head elevated for the first night will also help decrease any swelling you may experience.
Blistering and crusting are rare; however, if these do occur, a thin layer of over-the-counter antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin® can be applied 2–3 times a day for 3 days. Please call us if you experience either of these uncommon reactions.
Hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin colour) can occur in some skin types. Please call us if you experience this uncommon reaction.
